Assemblage artist John Outterbridge’s work speaks of Black American life. Collected world-wide John Outterbridge’s work is conceptual and narrative at the same time. He is a an educator, arts activist and the founding director of the Watts Towers Arts Center. This studio visit with Mr. Outterbridge was conducted and photographed on July 27, 2012 by Lili Bernard in South Los Angeles, for the curating of BAILA con Duende.

These studio visit with John Outterbridge were conducted on September 13, 2011 and November 28, 2011, for the retrieval and return of Mr. Outterbridge’s art which was included in the exhibition, Colonialism: The Collective Unconscious, curated by Lili Bernard, at the William Grant Still Arts Center, Department of Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles, CA, October 8, 2011 – November 19, 2011.
